Here is the place to write a Show Report for your venue, detailing as much information as you can that might help shows there in years to come. Include things such as dimensions of stage, passing traffic, good spots to flyer, useful promo, tech equipment, ambient noise; anything that will help give shows a good idea of the venue before they arrive. **Please include your show number so we can confirm your show report is in the right venue forum**

Show report for Liquid Room Warehouse 2022, Show number 319: 'Charlie Caper - Magical' The venue staff are really great to work with, and it feels like we are working together as a team. The Warehouse is a very big space in a basement down several stairs. It holds perhaps 140 chairs plus standing and max attendance this year was 240 or so. Letting all those people in and out takes a while, so calculate that into your timings when you plan the length of the show. There is a fairly high stage (Perhaps 70-80 cm) which is really wide (8+ meters) but not deep at all (around 2 meters). There is professional sound and lighting and on day one someone from the venue helped create a few lighting states that we all could use during the run. I don't think we are allowed to create our own or fiddle deeper with the equipment, but we can use the lights, just not do anything advanced. The sound is great, there are two wired microphones to borrow and a possibility to plug in your own wireless receiver. There is sound bleed into the venue from the rock club that Liquid Rooms run upstairs and a few nights during the month sound checks or gigs will heavily impact your show if it is sensitive to sound bleed. The rest of the time there is no sound bleed at all though. It is a really big room and if you don't get at least 80 people in it can feel quite empty. The venue often allows us to put up a few posters, so printing 20 posters or so can be worth it just to put them up where the venue allows. Liquid Room is quite near the Royal Mile so you can flyer either on the Mile or outside the Liquid Room which also has quite a lot of foot traffic. On the day before we start we gather together and carry hundreds of chairs into the venue, and on the day after they have to be carried out, so please try to schedule that into plans.
Show report for Liquid Room Warehouse 2022. Show number 84: "The Hypnotist - RED RAW". This was my second Fringe at the Liquid Room Warehouse and it remains my favourite PBH venue that I've seen. The staff are always really good, friendly and keen to help. I found a number of them actively working to promote and recommend my show to audience members who were on their way out from other shows in LR. The space is such a good size for any show that is able to draw in crowds 100+ on a regular basis. The stage is wide but not deep. This is not a huge problem, but worth being aware of. An improvement would be if the PA system was set up with monitors for on-stage feedback. There are some, but apparently they weren't set up and therefore we weren't able to use them. Other than that, the tech is great. Liquid Room is in a good location and easy to describe when flyering as "just turn left towards the top of the Royal Mile and down onto Victoria Street", but you also find a lot of passing people from the Grassmarket and walking up Victoria Street. The sound bleed from the main Liquid Room venue can be off-putting unless you have a particularly loud show, but I just chose to make light of it and the audience if accepting of this 'Fringe' element to the venue. In the past, Liquid Room has been a bit of a well-kept secret from street level, although with a small amount of prompting from the venue captains they quickly added more signage. It's a shame that they aren't willing to allow us to put posters around the beer garden and the internal walls. Several audience members commented that it didn't feel the same Fringe 'vibe' as it used to, but they have got TV screens around that they advertise our shows on. Liquid Rooms also has a really great beer garden which acts as a holding area for audiences to stay in before they're called down for a show. This is more efficient than some venues where audiences turn up and wander in before the end of the current show.
Show Report for Liqid Room Annexe. Show Number 420: "Flanders Field"
This is the second time I have staged a show at the Liquid Rooms. I agree with Robert it is my favourite venue too. The staff are great. There was a good atmosphere and everyone pitched in and helped out. The communication was good. Any issues were identified and raised with the venue captains. I couldn't have asked for better venue captains than Ed and Tommy. They made me us all feel part of a team and were very helpful and approachable. The person who does my lighting let me down and Tommy very kindly stepped in do it for me. I would have preferred to have the lighting at the back of the room like they had in 2019 but it was not a problem. The queues in the beer garden were well organised.
Show Report for Liquid Room Warehouse 2022. Show number #6: "The Hypnotist - RED RAW'. The Liquid Rooms remains an incredible venue and a big asset for PBH. It was nice to return to the same core team of Jon, Dave, Matt and Callum, who are super-keen to make sure that they can be as accommodating as possible, while also keeping venue owners happy. When I arrived, I was surprised by the slightly new layout of the Warehouse, with a new stage that isn't set-back into the wall. I quickly decided that this is a better arrangement than in previous years and feels slightly more theatrical than nightclub, a view shared by other acts I spoke with. The tech equipment in the venue is brilliant and they're welcoming in terms of helping us set up the tech requirements to suit each show. We had more tech problems than I've ever known this year, just with various things not working, like a buzz coming from the PA system for a few days, cables not working and weird settings appearing/disappearing. This caused issues for the first week, but kudos to Liquid Rooms for getting someone to fix it AND to the other acts for just perservering like pros. The accoustics aren't amazing for spoken word, but it's acceptable. LR have done a good job of making sure that we have places to put posters and popup banners and the beer garden remains the perfect 'holding pen' for audiences, ahead of upcoming shows. I'll hope to return next year for another Fringe season.
Show Report for Liquid Room Annexe. Show 415 - Bennett Arron: LOSER I cannot thank the staff enough. Not only were they incredibly professional, they were also very helpful with all aspects of putting on my show. From cleaning the room between acts, having the crowds queuing patiently in the bar area and then sending them in at the appropriate, to generally being so nice and pleasant to deal with. Whenever there was a problem, which was rare, it was dealt with immediately. It took so much stress away from putting on a show. There is some sound bleed from the warehouse which can be distracting at times, but it's not unbearable. Maybe the 'louder' shows should run at the same times . Flyering outside the venue seems to work and it's close to the Royal Mile. Posters outside the rooms is great and the plasma screen is a huge bonus. I would happily return to play there again.
Show report for The Liquid Room Warehouse Show #18 - Men With Coconuts Thank you so much for a great Fringe this year. We feel so lucky to be performing at the Liquid Rooms. It's such a great space to perform in, and the staff and our venue captains (Jolly boat) were amazing. Everything we needed for our show was there for us, and if there were any issues then it was sorted between the venue captains and other performers via the WhatsApp group chat. Not much to add other than I hope we are back next year.
Show Report for Flanders Field (177) Liquid Room Annexe
It was great to be able to perform my show at the Liquid Room Annexe. It is my favourite venue. The staff were fantastic. Everyone was very helpful and approachable. They were so professional and made me feel welcome. The manager was in the beer garden for each performance. If anyone asked about the show he would give them a flyer and he organised the audience into an orderly queue. There was some slight noise bleed from the warehouse but it was not a big issue. Ed and Tommy were brilliant. They created a great team atmosphere and any issue was dealt with quickly. I would love to come back next year.
Show Report for 'Tom Little: Show Me Some Bloody Respect' which was at 18.45-19.45 at Liquid Rooms Annexe. This is a perfect room in a perfect venue. The room's built for live performance with a proper stage, sound and lighting set-up. All the staff were great. I had a great time and hope I'm back there next year. Thanks.
Show report for Liquid Room Warehouse 2024, Show number 463: 'Charlie Caper - Magical' I will essentially repeat my report from above as the Liquid Room are very dependable to work with The venue staff are really great to work with, and it feels like we are working together as a team. -- The venue often allows us to put up a few posters, so printing 20 posters or so can be worth it just to put them up where the venue allows which is only outdoors. The captains often organise a laminater to help waterproof posters.
